When it comes to your annual summer holiday, it can be easy to fall into a routine of visiting your favourite destination time and time again. But a report from package holiday experts Thomas Cook has found that a new generation of over 50’s are turning their backs on traditional holiday destinations to explore countries recommended by their children.

Researchers found that 44% of over 50’s are jealous of the so-called ‘backpacking’ youth of today, and have decided to follow in their globetrotting footsteps. From Australia to Thailand, parents and grandparents are spreading their wings and choosing adventure holidays that are longer than the average two-week jaunt.
